That's right folks. As some of you may know BF3 will not be on steam. Where will it be you may ask? In order to play Battlefield 3, you will need EA's digital distribution client, Origin. Not only do you need it if you want to buy Battlefield 3 digitally, but also if you buy the retail disc. This is all because EA fell into bad terms with Steam after violating some of their terms. It all started with Crysis 2, then Dragon Age 2, and now Battlefield 3. This couldn't have come at a better time for EA, since they just launched Origin. For fellow Steam followers, hopefully this does not stay permanent.

On top of that, they're only selling games by EA, which means that someone would HAVE to have some other digital download service on their computer to play games from any other publisher. If they want to compete, they're going to need to actually allow other publishers on their store, something I can't see them doing any time soon.
